It appears that our artistes are realising that its about time they take their music beyond the local market and target global platforms with diverse audiences. For some time now, we have witnessed more Rwandan musicians venturing into the region and abroad, seeking collaborations with other artistes. Arguably one of the most popular musicians in the country, Yvan Buravan, is one of those artistes trying to promote their music and expand their fan base. The R&B singer traveled to Sweden on Monday, ahead of his maiden performance on Valentine’s Day, February 14. Buravan, who describes his signature tune as ‘romantic’, is known for his bold stage presence and his impressive vocal range. “I can’t wait to perform in Sweden. I am excited about this concert as it will be my first performance there. Can’t wait to meet with my Rwandan fans in Europe, and to entertain all music lovers…it’s going to be a great experience,” said the Prix de Couvertes RFI 2018 winner. While in the country, the singer plans to embark on a brief media tour visiting media houses in Sweden, as well as interact and work on music projects with Swedish artistes and producers. Buravan is famous for such singles, Just a dance, This is love, With you, Malaika, and Heaven among others. He has collaborated with popular artistes such as Tanzanian bongo flava star A.Y, and has shared the stage with some of the top artistes in the region, including Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol.
