In the same perception of one of the proverbial quotes of beauty, that “the beauty of a woman is identified on her face.” This is an advising article...anyway! So it’s about time we give you some beauty tips. Meanwhile, these tips are applicable for men too, but I don’t want to risk sounding uncultured, because it’s apparent that men have embraced female beauty tips. Today, they are seen flocking salons for beauty treatments. Some men go for manicures, eyeliners, and they actually go an extra mile to apply makeup and lip-gloss. Makeup is an art which has the power to turn an ordinary face into a striking one. However, applied badly it can also turn a pretty face into a horror. Chantelle Nyiramakibiri, 25, says one day she went to her office with badly applied makeup. On seeing the strange looks cast her way, she thought, “What’s wrong?” “You look like a ghost. Did you see yourself in a mirror?” her friend asked. The white powder had covered both her eyebrows and eyelashes. There is something called beauty conscience. Anyone can look twice as ugly or more if their makeup is applied inappropriately. No matter how pretty or handsome you are, if the makeup is not applied well, your face will not land you any date. Find your basic makeup essentials to create a glowing face. The secret of makeup is not about buying several expensive products. Instead it’s all about applying it properly. Armstrong Ngoga admits that there is something attention-grabbing about someone doing their make-up. “I cannot help but sneak a look when a woman whips out her eyeliner or lip gloss on the bus, mainly because applying make-up is such a personal ritual that you rarely get the chance to witness.” Because of the difficulties in finding a variety of makeup colours, especially in Kigali, some makeup specialists argue that brown women should use more than one foundation shade by blending two shades together or by applying different shades to different areas of the face. Allen Mukamusoni, a skin specialist who runs a beauty cosmetics shop in Kigali’s commercial centre, says that if you have not been able to find a colour that suits your skin tone, do not apply any foundation that you are not pretty sure of. “Consult a skin specialist to avoid skin complications.” According to the general principle of applying beauty products, makeup must always start with clean skin. For example its not proper putting makeup on skin that already has yesterday’s makeup, because it may cause rashes on your face. Proper and precise make-up matching the skin tone can really make someone look very attractive, beautiful and elegant. So, before you apply that make-up, first properly wash your face, and then use a light moisturizer to smoothen your skin. Here are top tips that will help you get the perfect look every day. The routine is to first wash, cleanse and moisturize your face. Choose the makeup that exactly matches your skin tone. Apply it over the central part of your face, and then blend it with a makeup sponge or your fingertips until it covers your entire face. Do your eyebrows next. Use powdered eyebrow shadow on brows instead of pencil, which can often look unnatural. Apply it with a hard, slanted brush. Choose three colours of eye shadow: light, medium and dark. Use the dark only to line your upper eyelid, in a fairly thin line along the upper lashes. Use the medium shade for the crease and the lightest shade for the area under the eyebrow. Apply eyeliner. Use eyeliner pencil, and line the lower lid below the lashes. Line only the outer two-thirds of the lower lid, or all the way across if you are trying to achieve a darker look. Do the mascara that suits your skin tone. For example apply brown mascara if your skin colour is dark or chocolate. Smile a bit to emphasis that best part on your face. Finally, choose a lipstick colour that is suited to your skin colour and that is perfect for your day look. You can also play around with colours and textures to enhance your mood.
