Saturday Mukura 1-3 APR Police 2-1 Kiyovu Holders APR fought back from a goal down to beat Mukura Victory Sport 3-1 in the Ubutwari Cup tournament at Kigali Stadium on Saturday. With the win, it meant that Mohamed Adil Erradi’s army side are yet to lose a game this season, stretching their unbeaten run to 19 matches in all competitions. Mukura took a surprise lead when former APR forward Evode Ntwali opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Two minutes later, however, APR quickly reacted to equalize through Lague Byiringiro before in-form Dany Usengimana put the black-and-white outfit ahead on the stroke of half-time. Striker Innocent Nshuti completed the rout with five minutes to clock. Seeking to retain the title they won last year, APR will resume their campaign against Police on Tuesday before facing SC Kiyovu in the final game on February 1 – the National Heroes Day. In the meantime, Police also brightly started their quest for a first Heroes Cup title as they edged SC Kiyovu 2-1 at Kigali Stadium. Eric Ngendahimana and Osee Iyabivuze were on the target for Francis Haringingo’s side, while Robert Saba scored the consolation goal for SC Kiyovu. Kiyovu, who won the last of their six league games in 1993, were hastily invited into the four-team tournament on Friday after Rayon Sports pulled out at last minute allegedly because of certain misunderstandings between the club and the organizers.
