After an exciting performance by Kenya’s Omondi and South Africa’s Madinga, last month, Rwanda’s national comedy, “Seka Live” is set to return on the last Sunday of this month, January 26. The lineup includes local as well as international outfits in the world of comedy. The international stars include Malawian UK-based Daliso Chaponda and Tanzania’s Idris Sultan, as well as International award winning local comedian, Michael Sengazi. According to Seka Live’s creator and organiser, Arthur Nkusi, they organised these shows to give Rwandan comedians a platform, as well as entertain Rwandans in general. “As you can see, Michael Sengazi has managed to get to an International level, so we are going to work with the rest to also give them the stage. Of course this is to raise them, but entertain Kigali as well,” Nkusi told The New Times. As usual, tickets go for Rwf10, 000 and Rwf20, 000 for regular and VIP seats respectively. However, there is always a 48-hours promotion at Rwf5, 000 for pre-sale tickets. This edition shall take place at Kigali Marriot Hotel. Who are the invitees? Idris Sultan is a Tanzanian Actor, comedian, and Radio host who won the Big Brother Africa-Hotshots in 2014. He hosts the biggest comedy news show called Sio Habari. Apart from that he also hosts his own stand-up comedy shows. Daliso Chaponda, on the other hand, is a Malawian national based in United Kingdom, mostly famous for his in Britain’s Got Talent auditions. He was once awarded the prestigious golden buzzer. He survived the competition between Jamie Lee Harrison together with Lords of Strut, hence securing a place in the final.
