Sub-zone 5 Women: Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania The women’s national beach volleyball teams have stepped up their preparations ahead of the upcoming qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Rwanda has been drawn in Sub-Zone 5 in the first round qualifiers, which run from January 9 to 12 in Tanzania. Currently training twice a day at Amahoro Stadium, Rwanda will be represented by two teams; Charlotte Nzayisenga and Valentine Munezero, and the pair of Seraphine Mukantambara with Judith Hakizimana. “The preparations are going well so far, the players have quickly adapted to intensive training and they have the right mentality ahead of the trip to Tanzania,” said Christophe Mudahinyuka, the head coach. “The other players are learning a lot from Nzayisenga’s vast experience. The target is to march into the next round as sub-zone 5 leaders and we are ready for the challenge.” Mudahinyuka’s teams will be challenging for the top spot against teams from regional neighbours Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Men’s teams in Eritrea In the meantime, the men’s two teams have arrived in Eritrea for the Africa Sub-Zone 6 qualifiers, which start on Saturday and run through January 7. By press time Friday, Jean Paul Mana’s men did not know who the would face on Saturday as the technical meeting to determine fixtures was yet to get underway.
