The Republican Guard (RG) football club will be looking to retain RDF Liberation Cup when they take on Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) Nasho in the final whose date is yet to be confirmed. RG, who are tournament’s defending champions, reached the final on Thursday, May 30, after defeating 3 Division 3-1 in the semifinal while BMTC Nasho secured their final spot after seeing off Combat Training Centre (CTC) Gabiro in Friday’s second semifinal clash held at Kigali Pelé Stadium. ALSO READ: RG, Military Police square off in RDF Liberation Cup quarterfinals The RDF Liberation Cup which kicked off on April 15, is organized to celebrate Rwanda’s 30th Liberation Day, spanning various sports disciplines including football, volleyball, basketball, netball and handball among others. Football tournament finalists BMTC Nasho and Republican Guard will also face off in volleyball final. In basketball, BMTC Nasho qualified for the final where they face Rwanda Military Academy Gako. Rwanda Air Force will go up against Rwanda Military Academy Gako in netball final while will see Special Operations Force and Rwanda Military Academy Gako will fight for the title in handball final. The dates for the finals be communicated in due course.
