Kampeta Pitchette Sayinzoga has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD). Sayinzonga, who has been the Director-General of the National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA), replaces Eric Rutabana—who has been at the helm of Rwanda’s biggest lender to development since 2017. She has been the Director-General of NIRDA since 2017. Prior to this, Sayinzoga was the Director of Cabinet in the Prime Minister’s Office for a period of one year and a half. She also served in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Finance for a decade. While at the Ministry, Sayinzoga held various senior positions including acting Director of External Finance Unit, Director of Macroeconomic Policy Unit, Government Chief Economist as well as Permanent Secretary and Secretary to Treasury. Before joining the government, Sayinzoga was a professional associate at the World Bank. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Development Economics and International Relations from Witwatersrand, South Africa and a master’s degree in Economic Development and Policy Analysis from University of Nottingham.
