Rayon Sports have parted ways with five players as club looks to revive the squad for the 2024/25 season. The released players include Moroccan forward Youssef Rharb, Senegalese attacker Paul Alon Gomis and Alseny Agogo. Goalkeeper Bonheur Hategikimana and Burundian midfielder Emmanuel Mvuyekure have also been shown exit door. While other players were released due to poor performances, Mvuyekure's departure can be attributed to misconduct as Rayon Sports president Jean Fidele Uwayezu claimed earlier this week. The Blues hope to be active when the transfer window opens on July 1, having named a recruitment committee which will handle the transfer business along with the club’s technical staff. “Previously, we have signed unproductive players because we had faith in our coaches who recommended them. This won't happen again as we are setting up a special recruitment team, Uwayezu said. Rayon Sports have long shown interest to sign midfielder Muhajiri Hakizimana over the past season. The Rubavu-born, whose contract at Police FC expires on June 30, has in recent days been again linked with a move to the Blues. However, Uwayezu dismissed reports and denied any interest in the midfielder. The same applies to Kiyovu skipper Olivier Niyonzima who has also been linked with a return to the club. We will not sign Muhadjiri Hakizimana and Niyonzima Olivier Sefu, we do not want them,” he said. He, however, opened doors to Ugandan winger Joackiam Ojera and Simba SC attacker Leandre Essombe Onana in case they want to return to the club. Elsewhere, Police FC are set to sign Ugandan striker Cromwell Rwothombio as a replacement for Moro Sumaila who has been released. Times sport can confirm that the law enforcers have already agreed personal terms with Rwothombio who is a free agent after leaving NEC FC. He is expected to sign a two-year contract with Police who hope to beef up their attack ahead of CAF Confederation Cup and the domestic league.
