U.S-based Rwandan musician, Meddy, real name, Médard Ngabo has been listed among the artistes expected to perform at Wasafi Festival, making him the first Rwandan singer to ever grace the stage. The festival slated from Saturday, November 7 until 9, is organised by Wasafi Record Label, owned by renowned Tanzanian bongo flava recording artiste, and businessman Diamond Platnumz. The concerts will be held at Posta and Kijitonyama playgrounds in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where will perform on the last day of the festival. Other big names lined up for the festival include Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Ferooz, Sholo Mwamba, TID, Nyandu Tozi, Jux, Professor Jay, Young Killer, Chin Beez, Amber Lulu, Gigy Money, Chidi Benz, Ruby, Country Boy, DJ Ommy Crazy, Lava Lava, Mboso and Queen Darleen among others. Meddy has enjoyed massive success back home and abroad, with a number of hit songs, such as ‘Slowly’, ‘All Night’, ‘Everything’, and ‘Lose Control’ among many others. A few months ago, the singer performed at two mega concerts in Rwanda including, ‘Kwita Izina’ gala alongside American singer, and record producer Ne-Yo, and other popular Rwandan artistes like Bruce Melodie, Riderman, Charly na Nina, as well as the Youth Connekt concert, which was also graced by performances Patoranking from Nigeria and other Rwandan artistes. editor@newtimesrwanda.com
