Wednesday Musanze Vs Sunrise 15:00 Muhanga Vs AS Kigali 15:00 Police Vs APR 18:00 APR will be looking to maintain their shinning start to the new Rwanda Premier League season when they face Police on match-day 6 at Kigali Stadium on Wednesday, starting 6pm. The army side are second with 13 points, two ahead of archrivals Police – after five match rounds this season – as both sides remain unbeaten. APR have only dropped points once, in a draw against AS Kigali, while Police have recorded three wins and two draws. Francis Haringingo’s Police go into the match on the back of a 2-0 win over newcomers Heroes FC last Saturday, whereas APR edged AS Muhanga by a similar score-line on Sunday. If head-to-head record is anything to go by, APR are favourites for victory since Police have not beaten them in the league in the last three seasons. However, Moroccan tactician Mohammed Adil Erradi has warned his APR players not to be complacent. Police won the two sides’ last meeting 1-0 in the third-place playoff of this year’s Agaciro Cup tournament last month. “It is going to be a tough challenge, against one of the best teams in the league,” said Erradi. “We have been on good form lately, and yes Police have not beaten us in the league in a long time, but that can’t be reason to fall complacent.” “We will go into the match with all the seriousness. The confidence level [in players] has gone up after finding our scoring touch in the last few games.” He further admitted that, “The Police game is the biggest test we are facing yet.” On the other hand, Burundian coach Haringingo is upbeat to guide his law enforcers’ side to a second win over APR in as many games since joining the club in July after two years with Mukura Victor Sports. “We have worked on our weak spots defensively and improved in the attack. We are ready for the APR challenge. We will try everything we can for all the points.” Police could go top if they defeat APR by a big margin. Mukura stormed to the table summit with 14 points on Tuesday after winning 1-0 over strugglers Heroes FC at Nyamata Stadium. In other matches, Musanze host Sunrise at Ubworoherane Stadium while AS Muhanga will be up against AS Kigali at Muhanga Stadium. Both games get underway at 3pm. editor@newtimesrwanda.com
