The Republican Guards (RG) will Saturday, May 25, take on the Military Police Brigade in crunch Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Liberation Cup Liberation Cup football quarterfinal clash taking place at Kigali Pelé Stadium. ALSO READ: RDF Liberation Cup tourney returns The tournament, which kicked off on April 15, is organized on the occasion to celebrate Rwanda’s 30th Liberation Day. RG claimed the inaugural edition of the Liberation Cup in football in 2023, defeating Task Force (TF) 1-0 in the final. RG vs Military Police is one of two quarterfinals fixtures that will take place at Kigali Pelé Stadium. Their match will be preceded by another match between Task Force (TF) and 3 Division on Friday, May 24, at 3:00 PM. Two more quarterfinal matches will be held at Bugesera Stadium. The first match will see 4 Division go up against BMTC Nasho on Friday at 10AM before Gabiro Combat Training Centre (CTC) take on Special Operation Force (SOF) on Saturday at 10AM. The volleyball tournament has also reached the quarterfinals. Action gets underway on Friday when Task Force face Mechanized Division (MEC Div) while BMTC Nasho will go heat to head with General Headquarters (GHQ). On Saturday, RG will play Rwanda Military Academy (RMA Gako), and Artillery Division will battle CTC Gabiro. All volleyball matches will be held at Busanza volleyball courts. RG and RMA-Gako emerged as champions in the 2023 inaugural RDF Liberation Cup. RG won the football competition while RMA-Gako bagged trophies in both volleyball and basketball.
