Season three, talent zone finale is set to take place on October 19, at Camp Kigali, at 5pm. The talent search was first conducted by Royal FM in partnership with the Ministry of youth. In an interview with The New Times, Emmanuel Murenzi, coordinator of Talent zone, said that talent zone is a platform that was formed to promote talents among youth nationwide. This year, participants showcased their talents in the categories of dancing and radio presenting. Eight contestants in the category of radio presenting made it to the finale and six contestants in the dancing category, as elected in the competitions that happened nationwide. We went to every province but had to choose one district per province due to financial constraints. We however hope to extend to other districts in the next season,” Murenzi said. The winning contestant in the category of journalists (radio presenters) will win a contract as a journalist at Royal FM., while the first and second runners-up will be awarded cash prizes worth Rwf300,000, and Rwf200,000 and a three-month internship as radio presenters at the radiostation. The winning dance group at the competition, on the other hand, will walk away with a cash prize of Rwf1, 000, 000, while the first and second runners-up will pocket Rwf500,000 and Rwf300,000, respectively. The annual competition was introduced in 2016 but did not take place last year due to various issues from the organiser, Royal FM. The event is free. editor@newtimesrwanda.com
