Former Commissioner General of Police, Brigadier General Andrew Rwigamba has passed away. According to the spokesperson of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) , Rwigamba had been undergoing medical care in Egypt when he died on Thursday. “I can confirm that Gen Rwigamba unfortunately passed away after a short illness. Further details will be communicated by the family in due course,” Lt Col Innocent Munyengango told The New Times in a telephone interview. Rwigamba passed away at the Cairo International Medical Centre in Egypt where he had gone for treatment. At the time of his death, Rwigamba was the Director General of Military Relations at the Ministry of Defence. He has held this position since 2011. Rwigamba was the police boss until 2008. He was discharged from active military service in 2013 at the rank of Brigadier General.
