PATRIOTS have set high ambitions for themselves in the upcoming qualifiers as they look to secure a ticket to the inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL) next year. Group D qualifiers, where the Rwandan champions belong, are scheduled for October 16-20 at the National Indoor Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The team will travel in two bunches, with the first flying Sunday night whereas the second set will be joining them on Monday. Speaking to Sunday Sport, the club’s president, Brian Kirungi, said, “We have done everything we could in preparations, and we are confident we will do well in the competition.” “Our target is to finish top of the group, meaning we will have to win all our matches.” The Patriots have been placed in Group D along with Hawassa from Ethiopia, City Oilers of Uganda, JKT from Tanzania, Brave Hearts (Malawi) and Burundi’s Dynamo.
