Second tier side AS Muhanga have dismissed reports indicating that the club appointed Marcel Lomami as their new head coach ahead. Reports were rife in the local media that the Espoir FC tactician completed a move to AS Muhanga and that he would coach the team during the playoffs which begins on Wednesday, May 22. The South Province-based team, however, quashed the rumours. It is not true that we have handed Marcel Lomami the AS Muhanga job, there is no truth in the story circulating around, the club said in an X post on Wednesday. ALSO READ: Espoir FC disqualified from second division playoffs over fielding ineligible player AS Muhanga, currently coached by Abdul Mbarushimana, finished third in the 2023/24 second division regular season but they qualified to the playoffs at the expense of second-placed Espoir who were docked 15 points for fielding an ineligible player. The team, which last played in the Primus National League during the 2020/21 season, will be aiming to go all out and secure one of the two tickets to the top flight league.
