The national volleyball league side Gisagara have confirmed the signing of right-attacker Lawrence Yakan Guma on a two-year contract. The development has been confirmed on Thursday by Augustin Ntivuguruzwa, the club’s president. “He (Lawrence) signed a two-year deal with us, the deal is done,” said Ntivuguruzwa. “He is surely going to be a key member of our squad next season. His experience and leadership as a senior player is a great boost.” The Gisagara-based outfit has been busy on the transfer market over the last three months as they look to beef up their squad ahead of the 2019/2020 season, with a mission of reclaiming the league title they lost to Rwanda Energy Group in May. Other new signings at the club include; Uganda international Malinga Kathbart, former APR star Ronald Muvara, Jules Niyigena from UTB and Sylvester Ndayisaba who crossed from Rwanda Energy Group. Lawrence, a Uganda-born Rwanda international, joins the two-time champions after spending the last two years with Japanese side Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler. He also previously played in Algeria and Turkey. editor@newtimesrwanda.com
