Kiyovu dent Atraco’s title hopes Results AS Kigali 0-4 APRKiyovu 1-1 Atraco Top scorers Jean Lomami 13 (Atraco)H.Kitagenda 9 (Atraco)Pappy Gasane 9 (AS-Kigali) APR head coach Rene Feller has described his team as “the greatest in the country” after the midweek 4-0 drubbing of AS Kigali at Nyamirambo stadium. The win, coupled with Atraco 1-1 against Kiyovu on the same day, meant that the military side have opened up a two-point cushion at the top of the league table standing. The Dutch Feller told Times Sport yesterday that his record nine-time league winners are in for their tenth league title this year. “We have played better and better every game and created several goal scoring opportunities. “If we maintain the same fighting spiriting, I don’t see any team capable of beating us to the league title,” a confident Feller stated. He added, “There is nothing fake about APR’s form, it is all too real. Our aim is to win every game in Rwanda and on the continental scene.” Rwanda’s U-20 international striker Elias Uzamukunda netted twice against his former club while Kabange Twite and Fuadi Ndayisenga got the other two. The win took APR to 30 points, two better than the champions, who were held to a frustrating one-all draw by relegation battling Kiyovu. The draw was the second successive for Sam Timbe’s side that also drew 0-0 with Sudanese side El Merreikh in the MTN Champions League preliminary round return leg tie last weekend, a result which consequently eliminated the Rwandan champions 2-1 on goals aggregate from the first leg. And Feller reckons the draw in midweek will not do his title rivals any world of good, he said, “To draw with Kiyovu, Atraco have blundered.” Rwanda international midfielder Kalisa Kase came to the rescue for Atraco midway through the second half after Kiyovu had gone ahead in the third minute of the game through James Gasana. The draw moved Kiyovu from bottom to 11th level with La Jeunesse on 10 points but with a better goal difference of -8 against Le Jeunesse’s -11.
