24- year-old, Dismas Rukundo, will be among the contestants to compete for the title of “Mister United Continents International” pageant, slated for early next year, in Cebu, Philippines, according to sources from the licensing office. Mister United Continents Inc., in its fifth edition, has been on the lookout for men who want to become part of the male beauty pageant journey and take on the responsibility of an ambassador for their countries across all continents. “As the chief licensing officer of Mister United Continents Inc., I am pleased to invite you to be a candidate of your country, Rwanda to the fifth edition of the Mister United continents International pageant” read part of the approval letter. Rukundo, a travel and tourism management graduate, revealed to The New Times, that he was approved on August 11, and that the news came as a shocker to him, as he didn’t expected to win, given he was not shortlisted last year. “Sometimes you pray for something but you hardly believe in the affirmative dimension of the prayer, however I now carry pride in representing my country and telling them more that they didn’t know,” he said. This is going to be the first time Rwanda will be represented on this platform, since its inception in 2015. Asked about what it take to be part of the pageant, Rukundo said: “they should be great ambassadors of their nation, having profound knowledge about their countries that can be able to convince a foreigner to visit that particular country.” This, he pointed out, he will use in the long run, to increase the number of tourists that are attracted to the country through such competitions. editor@newtimes.com
