At least 50 players from Rwanda’s music and fashion industry, led by pioneers of Rwandan rap movement Kinyatrap and Moshions fashion designer, Moses Turahirwa, are in Paris, France to showcase sounds and fashion collections made in Rwanda, The New Times learns. Local artistes such as Bushali, B Threy, and Green Ferry’s Dr Nganji, all credited with the growth of Kinyatrap, arrived in Paris on Friday, May 17. They are set to headline concerts, attend a documentary screening, and participate in a photo exhibition highlighting the creation of Kinyatrap. ALSO READ: Moshions, Rwanda’s top design brand eyes global shoppers According to Pan African Music, the organisers of the shows, a photo exhibition titled ‘Rap in Kigali’ is currently taking place at Theatre Chaillot. The exhibition features portraits of the Rwandan rap scene captured by Michiel Robberecht, a film director and photographer, earlier this year in Kigali. The rappers will also take their music to the Africa Fest in Lille on May 24, and then return to Paris on May 25for the ‘Nyege Nyege’ Festival, France edition. In a recent interview with The New Times, B-Threy expressed excitement about the France shows, saying that the Kinyatrap gang might also perform in other major cities of Europe including Warsaw, Poland among others. Meanwhile, the Moshions team, consisting of models, designers, photographers, musicians, and many others, are all in the capital of France to launch the fashion house’s latest couture collection, Infaransa, which was previously launched at Moshions’ headquarters in Kigali, Rwanda. Moshions is a Rwandan fashion house and brand that designs apparel and accessories. It was founded in 2015 by Moses Turahirwa and is well known for dressing world celebrities and heads of state.
