Gorilla FC head coach Ivan Minnaert is in advanced talks with the club over a possibility to extend his stay, Times Sport has established. Minnaert helped Gorilla FC to stay in the Primus National League after Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Mukura Victory Sports in their last fixture of the season saw them finish in 10th place on the table. The tactician was tasked to rescue the club from relegation when he took over the coaching role from Musa Gatera who was sacked in February. Both parties are said to have held talks over extending the contract for Belgian but not agreement has been reached yet. “My contract has expired but we need to sit and talk about a new one. We still have not reached any agreement. We discussed it but not yet signed, we will see” Minnaert told Times Sport. The first target was to remain in the league this season and I have reached my target and club’s expectations. No one imagined that we could beat stay but we did it. I am happy for what the boy did,” he added. Reports indicate that the club management had also approached Musanze FC head coach Sosthene ‘Lumumba’ Habimana and his technical staff including assistant coach Jean Baptiste ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza over a potential move to sign them after guiding the Northern Province-based side in third place.
