Rwandan singer and songwriter, Kenny Mirasano is set to introduce his upcoming debut album at Centre Culturel Francophone, Kimihurura on Friday, May 24. The singer who is on a mission to promote different cultural Rwandan music styles (gakondo), helping Rwandans to realise how rich their culture is, will perform the album songs before its release in February, 2025. ‘Umuntu’ album introduction, Mirasano said, is a way of alerting music lovers about it, but that he also plans to hold small performances outside Kigali and other countries if all goes well. “I found myself dwelling on people’s daily experiences and that made me occasionally ask myself questions about how people should live, behave and what we should hate and love. All of that led to the making of one of the songs on the album called ‘Umuntu’ which later on became the perfect title for the album,” he explained. He recalls the album introduction as a better time for fans to comprehend the album and get to listen to untold stories through music. “Those who will attend the show will be fully entertained, whoever knows is already aware that I will not disappoint them,” he said. Mirasano began singing when he was 15, inspired by the fact that there wasn’t part a rugby team at the high school he was attending which he wished to do. Doing music was his way of replacing his desire to play rugby. At the time, he formed a singing group with his friends and ended up becoming their conductor. He said that music became part of his daily life, something which compelled him to figure out that he was talented and later in 2018 joined Nyundo School of Music. The artiste has performed on both local and international stages including JAMAFEST 2019 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Les ateliers de la pensée in Dakar, Senegal with Little Kesho team, Little Kesho performance in Sevran, France as well as Visa for Music 2022 in Rabat.
