Thirty graduate in leadership course

The Rwanda Academy for Leadership in Competitiveness and Prosperity (ALCP) has graduated thirty students who have been undergoing leadership training. According to Monique Nsanzabaganwa, the Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, this course has exclusive lessons that cannot be taught in schools. “We initiated the programme to bring out the best in you and change the image of business in Rwanda,” Nsanzabaganwa told the fresh graduates. The ALCP is an initiative that aims at equipping young Rwandan professionals with the tools to be great leaders in the public and private sectors. This was the fourth graduation of the programme that is sponsored by the commerce ministry and, the National Training Centre (RIAM). It is conducted by On The Frontier (OTF Group) a consultancy firm. The OTF Group country director, Dr. Reid Whitlock told The New Times that the programme emphasizes strategic thinking, effective decision-making and implementation. “The course is free of charge and the qualification is having at least a bachelor’s degree, to be working and be willing to attend a two weeks intensive course,” Whitlock pointed out. In an interview, Jane Bujisho, one of the graduates, praised the course saying that it was inspiring and prepares the young generation to be good leaders of the future. “The course helped me a lot and it will affect the way I prepare a report and communicate, and has equipped me with the confidence of delivering a speech in public,” Bujisho said. According to Leonard Mungarurire, senior research analyst with the OTF Group, the programme has so far graduated 100 trainees since 2007. Ends
