APR FC and Rwandan legend Jimmy Gatete was among the high profile personalities who graced club’s title winning ceremony at Kigali Pele Stadium on Sunday, May 12. APR were crowned champions of the 2023/24 PNL season after finishing at the top 68 points. They also went unbeaten throughout the season, winning 19 games and drawing 11 including Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Amagaju FC. Club’s former star forward Gatete brought the trophy to the podium, accompanied by former teammate Jimmy Mulisa. Mulisa is currently the assistant coach of Rwanda’s Amavubi who sit top of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Africa qualifiers. Gatete handed over the trophy to skipper Claude Niyomugabo and applauded them for the remarkable feat. Gatete is a club icon having played a key role in APR's Cup Winners Cup semifinal berth in 2002/03.
