June 12 Mukura vs Kiyovu Etoile de l’Est vs Police Gicumbi vs Espoir Intare vs Bugesera June 13 APR vs AS Kigali Marines vs Rayon Gasogi vs Rwamagana Hope vs Etincelles MUKURA Victory Sports will play SC Kiyovu in the Peace Cup round of 16, while APR have been drawn against AS Kigali. The first-leg fixtures are slated for June 12-13, with the decisive encounters coming three days later. Holders, Mukura, have a tough test against the Green Baggies over the two legs, but head coach Francis Haringingo is confident of his side to overcome. “We will be ready in time for the challenge,” he said. The Huye-based team, who beat Rayon Sports to win the 2018 Peace Cup last August, will host the first-leg at Huye Stadium before visiting Alain Kirasa’s SC Kiyovu at Mumena Stadium for the return-leg clash. In the meantime, APR have been pitted against AS Kigali in what is guaranteed to be a heated affair between two former winners of the country’s second biggest club competition. APR progressed to the round of last sixteen with a 2-1 aggregate win over Rwamagana City despite losing the second-leg 1-0 on Saturday. The latter also advanced as one of the best seven losers from the first round, and they will be up against second tier rivals Gasogi in the next stage. Champions Rayon are to face Marines, whom they beat 3-0 in their last Azam Rwanda Premier League game to clinch the club’s ninth league title last week. Peace Cup winners, who will be determined in the July 4 final, will represent the country in the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup. editor@newtimesrwanda.com
