Yesterday Rwandans across the country commemorated the crucifixion of Jesus in Good Friday rituals characterised prayers and processions. The procession, known as the Way of the Cross, depicts the sorrow and tribulations that Jesus was subjected to on His way to Mount Calvary, where he was crucified more than 2000 years ago. The New Times’ photojournalist Emmanuel Kwizera joined Catholic faithful from St Vincent Pallotti Gikondo Parish in Kicukiro District on the Way of the Cross, which started from and ended at their church. During the ritual, participants carried a cross through several stations as they sang, read the scriptures and prayed. At the end, both the clerics and faithful engaged in worship and prayer at the church. Easter, the day on which Christians mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is slated for Sunday, April 21.
