The Rwandan volleyball league for men and women has reached a crucial stage after the regular season concluded over the weekend left Police, Kepler VC, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and APR qualifying for the playoffs which will be staged over in the coming weekend. REG finished at the top of the table of the men’s regular season with 44 points followed by Police with 44 points but the former are ahead with 15 wins while later have 14 wins. Kepler and APR are on third and fourth places with 43 points and 40 points respectively. ALSO READ: Volleyball: APR women assistant coach upbeat ahead of new season Surprisingly, defending champions Gisagara Volleyball Club missed out ticket to the playoffs after finishing the regular season in fifth place with 36 points. During the playoffs, REG will face bitter rivals APR in a highly-anticipated duel on Saturday, May 11, while on the same day Kepler will be up against Police. ALSO READ: Volleyball: Police coach Musoni anticipates ‘exciting’ season Meanwhile, in women category, APR Women Volleyball Club finished top of the table after losing just once in the regular season against Police. Peter Kamasa's side have finished on top with 28 points ahead of second-placed Police with 24 points. Defending champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) are third with 19 points while Ruhango Volleyball Club finished in the fourth place with 10 points. ALSO READ: Volleyball: Gisagara, APR, Police set for 2024 Africa Championship APR Women will now face Ruhango Volleyball Club in the playoffs on May 11 while, later on, Police will be up against RRA. APR will be looking to win the league title after the losing it to holders RRA last season. ALSO READ: Gisagara, RRA crowned 2023 volleyball league champions The Playoffs will be played in the format of best of three matches after which the team that will win two matches will qualify for the final. The winner of two games in the three-match series in the final will be crowned champions and will subsequently represent Rwanda at the 2025 Africa Men's and women's championship which will take place in April and May 2025.
