SOUTHERN PROVINCE RUHANGO- The habit of throwing stonesat house roofs in Nyamagana cell has become a major concern for both residents and security officials in the area. The acts, which have been taking place continuously for some time now, have led to sleepless nights for some families, and for the unlucky ones, hospital visits. Bernadette Uwiringiyimana, one victim, says “the stones are thrown over the houses at night and I was hit and injured in the head. I was rushed to the nearest health centre for treatment. Our lives are at stake, and someone should come to our help as the whole scene has become scary.” Uwiringiyimana adds that, until the offenders are brought to book, the next move is to flee the area to get protection for the infants under her care. Police forces say that the problem is under control and curfews have been put in place immediately. Security officials in the area have also warned that the perpetrators will be punished severely as an example to the rest. Similar cases of insecurity have happened in recent weeks and some residents say that three children were recently reportedly murdered by unknown residents in Ruhango. The children had been left behind to take care of a home when the murderer hit them to death. The incident has not yet been independently confirmed. Ends
