Sunday AS Kigali vs Mukura 15:30 Marines vs AS Muhanga 15:30 Amagaju vs Gicumbi 15:30 Musanze vs Police 15:30 Kirehe vs Espoir 15:30 Saturday APR 1-0 Etincelles Kiyovu 1-1 Sunrise Mukura Victory Sports visit AS Kigali on Sunday seeking to bounce back with a crucial three points after being held by SC Kiyovu on Wednesday. The game will get underway at 3:30pm, at Kigali Stadium. Francis Haringingo and his side’s hopes for a first Azam Rwanda Premier League title were dented in a goalless draw with SC Kiyovu mid this week, and the Peace Cup holders will be looking to avoid another blow as the title race enters a crucial stage. With a victory over AS Kigali, the Huye-based side would cut the gap to second-placed Rayon Sports (44 points) to one point following the latter’s 1-all draw with Bugesera on Friday. Champions APR, who beat Etincelles 1-0 at Kigali Stadium on Saturday, top the table with 48 points. It will be a tricky tie for Mukura keeping in mind that AS Kigali is a hard nut to crack at home following their 1-0 shock defeat at the hands of Etincelles on Thursday. The two sides’ first-leg clash ended in a 0-0 draw at Huye Stadium last November. However, the black-and-yellow outfit are determined to walk back to Huye with three points in pocket. “We need to win this game – and every other remaining game – if we are to stay in the title race, there is no margin of error at this point,” said Burundian tactician Haringingo. He further added: “We don’t have any excuse to lose this game. We know AS Kigali is a tricky side at their home turf, I have told my players to be very careful, especially in the defence.” In a separate interview with Sunday Sport on Saturday, AS Kigali head coach Djuma Masudi was also confident and ready to challenge for the three points as he eyes to guide his side to a top-four finish. “We always want to win at home. The players are in good spirits and fit for the match. It’s a must-win for us,” said the former Rayon Sports skipper. In other league fixtures on Sunday, Marines host AS Muhanga at Umuganda Stadium, Amagaju take on Gicumbi at Nyagisenyi Stadium, Musanze will be up against Police while Kirehe go head-to-head with Espoir at Nyamarambi grounds. editorial@newtimesrwanda.com
