SOUTHERN PROVINCE MUHANGA — Relief has come to motorists and traders in Gitarama town is reports indicated that there is now stability of fuel supply. Traders who talked to The New Times this week said the stable fuel supply has eventuality normalised the movement of goods and services. The three month crisis had affected businesses in the area. The number of commuter buses and motorbike operators had subsequently reduced and prices were hiked. Transport service operator Atraco say the situation is now under control, and the Muhanga-Kigali fares have gone back to the original Rwf.700 down from Rwf.1500. Residents, who talked to The New Times on Tuesday, commended the government efforts to address the fuel shortages. They said traders had taken advantage of the situation and had hiked prices exorbitantly. “We are grateful for the government intervention over the situation. At this time, businessmen are not expected to levy exhorbitant rates as it was during the festive season,” one said. Ends
