Robert Ford has been appointed to the board of the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC). The African Network Information Centre is the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for Africa. The body is responsible for the distribution and management of Internet number resources - IP address space (IPv4 and IPv6) and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) - in its service region, which includes Africa and the Indian Ocean region Ford is the first Rwandan to serve on the board of the organisation. His appointment took effect this month. He has wide experience in the ICT sector and serves in multiple capacities, including as an ICT consultant for the Japan International Cooperation Agency. He also served as the coordinator of Northern Corridor Tech Alliance where he has been leading efforts to set up the Northern Corridor Tech Projects Implementation Fund (NCTPIF). Ford was also the founder and CEO of Filmax Web tech as well as a lead consultant on design development and implementation of Rwanda Local Government portal with 30 district websites. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
