Nyamirambo turned green on Sunday, October 9, as Kiyovu SC clinched the inaugural Made in Rwanda Cup after beating bitter rivals Rayon Sports 2-1 in a tense final at Kigali Stadium. Goals from Bienvenu Mugenzi and Abedi Bigirimana were enough for Alain-Andre Landeut’s side to stun the Blues and end their unbeaten run this season. Nigerian Musa Essenu scored a consolation for Rayon. Eric Mbirizi missed a penalty that could have levelled the score before full time. The defeat means Rayon have gone winless against Kiyovu during their past six outings. Meanwhile, Mukura stunned Musanze FC 4-0 to win the third place race of the tournament. Winners Kiyovu were given a trophy and a cheque of Rwf5,000,000 while runners-up Rayon Sports walked away with Rwf4,000,000. Mukura were awarded Rwf3,000,000. Musanze FC pocketed a Rwf2,000,000 cash prize after finishing fourth.
