Assiel Mugabe (pictured),a lecturer at Kigali based Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC) is organising an event dubbed, “Campus Outreach Gospel” concert. The show is slated for March 3 at the main hall of the college, former ETO Kicukiro, starting from 3pm and free for all. Some of the artistes that will grace the event include the Prayer House band, Serge Iyamuremye, Julius Kalimba and New Melody. According to Mugabe, the show was organised to reach the unreached audience. “Most of the gospel events are frequently held in expensive venues like hotels or other big compounds. Campuses or colleges are never preferred even though they are hosting a huge community. Most of the people at the campus are Christians and have an influence on our society. I decided to bring the show closer so that we can praise and worship together,” Mugabe said. The organiser is a worshipper at Methodist Church in Gikondo. He expects that the show will help the students’ community because for him, knowledge without Godly values or good characters is useless. Mugabo started singing in 2004 and he has so far released three albums whose songs have inspired many people. Some of his songs include Uri Umwami wanjye, Urera (a collabo he didwith Aime Uwimana), Ntihinduka, Bera Isi Umucyo and Ndagushima among others. Over 2000 students are expected to grace the event. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
