APR Basketball Club on Monday night, departed for Dakar, Senegal, ahead of the forthcoming 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Sahara Conference regular season which tips off at Dakar Arena on Saturday, May 4. The team departed Kigali international Airport at 1:00am aboard Ethiopian Airlines, looking to settle in Dakar where they will have few days of final training drills inside the Arena before conference tipoff. ALSO READ: BAL 2024: APR to face US Monastir in Sahara Conference opener APR are among four teams pooled in the Sahara Conference where they will be joined by US-Monastir of Tunisia, Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers and BAL 2023 runners-up and home side AS Douanes (Senegal). The Rwandan champions play US Monastir in the opening game of the first round on May 4 before taking on Rivers Hoopers on May 5 and AS Douanes on May 7. During the second round, the Rwandan champions will be up for a replay with each of US Monastir May 9, Rivers Hoopers on May 11 and AS Douanes May 12. BAL 2024 comprises 12 teams pooled in three conferences: Kalahari, Nile and Sahara. ALSO READ: BAL 2024: APR, US Monastir drawn in Sahara Conference The top two teams from each conference and the best two third-placed teams from across the three conferences will travel to Kigali for four seeding games followed by an eight-game, single-elimination playoffs and finals from May 24 to June 1. All the games will take place at the BK Arena.
