Libya has entered the race to host the next edition of the African Youth Championship in 2011, Times Sport has established. Cecafa’s Nicholas Musonye, who has been working as Caf media official for the 16th African Youth Championship, Rwanda 2009 said over the weekend that the Confederation of African Football will discuss the hosts this week in Lagos, Nigeria but confirmed that Libya had shown interest to host the next biennial event. “Libya is the only country which was interested in hosting the 2011 African Youth Championship. “The host nation will be decided by Caf next week (this week) in their meeting due in Lagos, Nigeria,” Musonye said. Ghana won the Africa Youth Championship on Sunday after beating giants Cameroon 2-0 in the final in Kigali. Striker Ransford Osei scored both goals in either half to secure the Black Satellites third continental title for African U-20 football. The Israel-based forward on both occasions combined with Asante Kotoko’s enterprising wing-back Samuel Inkoom to give Ghana their third triumph after titles in 1993 and 1999. Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and South Africa will join Egypt to the Fifa World Youth Championship set for September 26-October 16 in Cairo. Ends
