The 2019 national women’s football league will begin on January 15. AS Kigali will be seeking for a record 11th league title. The City of Kigali-sponsored side beat Scandinavia women’s football in the last game of last season at Umuganda Stadium, in Rubavu District, to clinch the title for a tenth consecutive time since 2010. Scandinavia Head Coach Radjab Bizumuremyi, told Times Sport on Monday that “the target is to end AS Kigali’s dominance next season. We have not had many friendly matches during the break, but we will be ready and fit in time for the new season.” Bizumuremyi further disclosed that – if possible – his side will have a friendly game against AS Kigali before the 2019 season gets underway. AS Kigali won last season’s league title with 39 points, having only lost once – against Scandinavia. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
