BAL 2024: APR to face US Monastir in Sahara Conference opener

Rwanda’s APR Basketball club open their Basketball Africa League 2024 Sahara Conference campaign against Tunisian’s US Monastir on May 4 as per fixtures released on Thursday. The pair were drawn in the Sahara conference that will take place at Dakar Arena in Dakar, Senegal, from May 4-12. They will be joined by Nigerian champions Rivers Hoopers and BAL 2023 runners-up AS Douanes (Senegal). After US Monastir, APR will take on Rivers Hoopers on May 5 before capping off the first round against AS Douanes on May 7. ALSO READ: BAL 2024: APR, US Monastir drawn in Sahara Conference During the second round, the Rwandan champions will be up for a replay with each of US Monastir May 9, Rivers Hoopers on May 11 and AS Douanes May 12. BAL 2024 comprises 12 teams pooled in three conferences: Kalahari, Nile and Sahara. The top two teams from each conference and the best two third-placed teams from across the three conferences will travel to Kigali for four seeding games followed by an eight-game, single-elimination playoffs and finals from May 24 to June 1. All the games will take place at the BK Arena. So far, only two teams namely FUS Rabat of Morocco and Atletico de Luanda have secured their tickets to Kigali for the playoffs and finals. The pair finished in the top two in the Kalahari Conference that took place in Pretoria, South Africa in March.
