Albert Joel Mphande, the Police FC head coach, has emphasized that his side are among the league title challengers as they gear up for Bugesera clash on Sunday. Police will host Bugesera on eleventh day of the 2018-19 Azam Rwanda Premier League seeking to record a seventh victory this season, having so far won six, drawn two and lost twice in their first ten games. The law enforcers are second on the 16-team league log with 20 points, five points adrift of champions APR. The latter have played one game less. “We have been doing well – despite a few upsets – this season and we have shown that we are capable of beating any team. We are among challengers for the league title,” said Zambian Mphande. Mphande was appointed as Police head coach last season, taking over from Innocent Seninga. “I have a good team, and talented players – and we keep getting better. We have been lacking consistency in our performances but I believe we are getting there, the aim is to stay focused and try winning every game till end of the season,” he added. Police will hope that APR drop points against Gicumbi on Friday, which would give the former – if they beat Bugesera on Sunday – a chance to go two points within of the defending champions. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
