Azam Rwanda Premier League Match-day 6 Nov. 29 Bugesera Vs Gicumbi Musanze Vs Amagaju AS Kigali Vs Sunrise Nov. 30 Kirehe Vs Police Kiyovu Vs Rayon Dec. 1 APR Vs Mukura Etincelles Vs AS Muhanga Newly promoted Azam Rwanda Premier League side, AS Muhanga, will be seeking to pick up from where they left off when they face Etincelles at Umuganda Stadium on December 1. Fifth-placed AS Muhanga will be up against Rubavu-based Etincelles on match-day 6 of the 2018-19 league, which will be resuming from international break since November 8. After five match rounds into the new season, unbeaten Abdu Mbarushimana’s side are in fifth position, having drawn three times, and won twice – including the shock 2-1 victory over Police FC on October 20. “We need to keep the momentum and fight for better positions, but most importantly, we need to keep believing in ourselves. The Etincelles game will put us to test, and we are ready for the challenge,” Mabrushimana told Sunday Sport. The 2013 Peace Cup finalists, AS Muhanga, have so far conceded four goals and scored seven times, including two goals each for forwards Yannick Bizimana and Adolphe Hakundukize. He added: “The competition – and unpredictability – level of the league has gone high, I have spoken with my players and warned them that we cannot take anything for granted. We won’t fear or underrate any opponent, we approach every game looking for three points.” After two seasons in the second division championship, AS Muhanga earned promotion back to topflight league in July after finishing second – behind champions Intare. The latter withdrew from Azam Rwanda Premier League in August, citing that they would prefer to stay in the second tier league and stick to their vision of nurturing young talents. Ahead of their clash with AS Muhanga, struggling Etincelles are third from the bottom with only three points after losing four games and registering one win, against AS Kigali. As it stands, defending champions APR top the table with a maximum 15 points, followed by Mukura VS with 13 points. Rayon Sports and Police complete top four with 12 points each. Kirehe (15th) and Gicumbi (16th) are locked in the relegation zone with two and one point, respectively. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
