Saturday, April 20 Final Men Patriots Vs APR 8pm Women APR Vs REG 6pm League leaders Patriots Basketball club and Rwanda’s 2024 Basketball Africa League representatives, APR, go head-to-head in an epic men’s final of the Genocide Memorial Basketball Tournament slated Saturday night at BK Arena at 8PM. The pair reached the final after eliminating Tigers and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) respectively in the semifinals that took place on Friday same venue. APR bundled out REG with a comfortable 96-66 victory in a game that new signing Noel Obadiah entertained basketball enthusiasts as he posted a game high 26 points to get off to a bright start in the Lions’ colors. APR dominated the first two quarters, 25-17, 34-12 but REG bounced back to claim the third quarter 22-17 as they pushed to return into the game to pull off an upset against the army side. However, APR put their acts right again to win the final quarter 20-15 and book a final berth with Patriots. Power forward Beleck Bell Engelbert topped REG’s scores with 19 points but his contribution wasn’t enough to rescue his side from the hands of APR. BK Arena will be home to another basketball affair between two powerhouses as APR eye a renewed rivalry with Henry Mwinuka’s Patriots who overcame Tigers 64-59 on Friday. Patriots and Tigers were tied to 47-47 (19-11,16-16,12-20) after three quarters before the former rose to the occasion to claim the final quarter 17-12 to win the crunch game. Dieudonné Ndizeye scored game high 21 points and Steven Hagumintwari added 14 points while Tigers’ center Francis Chijioke Azolibe and guard Reed Jordan posted 12 points and 11 points respectively.
