Caf Confederation Cup February 1 Gor Mahia v APR Nine-time national league champions APR will miss the services of influential midfielder Jean Baptista Mugiraneza for their Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg tie against Kenya’s Gor Mahia on Sunday in Nairobi. The Amavubi Stars midfielder has been ruled out of the game with a toe injury he sustained during Rwanda’s U-20 last group match against Ghana in the African Youth Championship last Saturday. Mugiraneza was the most outstanding player in the Rwandan team which failed to progress past the group stages of the African Youth Championship, Rwanda 2009. The towering midfielder won Samsung fair play player awards twice for his discipline and overall performance in Rwanda’s 2-1 win over Mali and 2-0 loss to Ghana. APR has replaced Mugiraneza with Elias Ntaganda who initially been dropped from the traveling party. Coach Rene Feller is expected to field either Patrick Mafisango or Twite Mbuyu in the absence of Mugiraneza in defensive midfield role. The winner between APR and Gor Mahia will face Egyptian side Haras El Hodoud who got a bye into the first round. Ends
