CNRU turns focus to capacity building

The Rwanda National Commission for UNESCO (CNRU) will this year work out, distribute and popularize education standards, by inspecting all education levels which include nursery, primary and secondary schools. They also announced that they have shifted attention to enhancing the capacity of all stakeholders having successfully sorted all dossiers they received which they analyzed and dispatched to concerned organs. Speaking to the press yesterday, the Commission’s Permanent Secretary, Eliphaz Bahizi, said that 19 staff members from national commissions in Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda Tanzania and Kenya had been trained on project conception. “This is in addition to the 200 journalists who were trained last year on freedom, press development and capacity building,” Bahizi said. Under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education, the Commission has a mission of promoting peace ideas and mutual comprehension to encourage intellectual solidarity and moral opinion initiatives by interesting the public to goals and programmes of UNESCO. Bahizi further explained that CNRU has mobilized civil society partners and visibility of UNESCO’s action in Member States. He pointed out that they would advise the various authorities in charge of education in the search for solutions to problems identified in the sector. Ends
