Saturday Kigali REG Vs APR 13:00 APR Vs Kirehe 15:00 REG Vs Gisagara 17:00 Ngoma IPRC- East Vs IPRC- West 10:00 UTB Vs IPRC- West 12:00 IPRC- East Vs UTB 14:00 It will be a battle of the giants as champions Gisagara and hopefuls Rwanda Energy Group (REG) go head-to-head in a highly anticipated match-day 2 clash of the 2018-19 national volleyball league on Saturday at Amahoro Stadium – starting at 5pm. The two sides will be squaring-off for a second time in two weeks following four-set thriller a fortnight ago in the final of the preseason tournament. The hosts will be seeking to halt Gisagara’s two-year dominance that has seen the Province-based side tormenting every opponent, including bitter rivals REG, to win two league titles in a row and several other trophies on the domestic scene. Reigning champions Gisagara started the new season with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 26-24 and 25-14) win over IPRC-East last weekend while REG also overcame the University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies in four sets (27-25, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-23). REG have not won against Gisagara since January this year. Elsewhere on Saturday, former champions APR will be looking for their first league win this season after losing the opener to UTB last Saturday. The military side will have two games to play, with the first coming against REG at 1pm before taking on struggling Kirehe VS two hours later. In other encounters on the weekend menu, IPRC-West will be up against IPRC-East at 10am and UTB at 12pm in Karongi District before UTB face IPRC-East at 2pm – same venue. Should Fidele Nyirimana’s UTB beat the two IPRC sister teams, they will climb to the summit of the table standings with a 3:1 win ratio. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
