Sunday Final Gisagara 3-2 REG Gisagara volleyball club were on Sunday crowned winners of the pre-season tournament after defeating Rwanda Energy Group (REG) 3-2 at Gisagara Gymnasium. Gisagara won the first set 29-27 and second set with 25-18, REG bounced back taking the third set 26-24 and fourth set with a 25-19 win while Gisagara took the decisive set 15-12. After winning the two-day tournament, Dominique Ntawangundi, the Gisagara coach said that the attention now turns to the national volleyball league, which is scheduled for this weekend. The new season gets underway on November 10. En-route to the semi-finals, Gisagara beat UTB 3-0 and while REG eliminated Kirehe with a 3-0 win. Kavalo Patrick from Gisagara was named as most valuable player (MVP) while Simon Rwigema of REG was named as best libero. Dada Emile Karera from Gisagara was voted best receiver whereas teammates Vincent Dusabimana was named best blocker, Ben Nakavoua took best setter while Flavien Ndamukunda was the best attacker of the pre-season tournament.
