Thursday Sunrise 1-2 Rayon A controversial game between Rayon Sports and Sunrise saw the ‘Blues’ earning all the three points with a 2-1 victory despite being reduced to ten men after Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana was sent off three minutes to time. The Burundian striker, who scored the opening goal in the 18th minute, was shown a red card for defending himself with a harsh karate kick against a pitch invador at Nyagatare grounds. Bimenyimana scored the opener from the spot after Sunrise defender Leon Uwambajimana brought down Rayon Sports new signing Michael ‘Balotelli’ Sarpong in the penalty area. Sarpong doubled the lead for the visitors in the 25th minute with a fantastic header, thanks to a good set piece from Djabel Manishimwe, while Jean Pierre Gasongo scored the consolation for the hosts in the 73rd minute from Moussa Sova’s well-taken free-kick.
