Nigeria Coach Ladan Bosso is eyeing the Fairplay trophy as well as the 16th African Youth Championship title after guiding the Flying Eagles to the Fifa U-20 World Cup finals over the weekend. Bosso said that after accomplishing his main aim in this championship, he has turned his focus to winning the Fairplay trophy as well as the African Youth Championship title. “Our main objective in this championship was to qualify for the World Cup, win Fair play team trophy and then clinch the African Youth Championship title. “We are moving systematically and I’m satisfied with what my team has achieved so far. I’m now looking forward to the Cameroon game. “We have to be more cohesive and play collectively as a team at this stage,” Bosso said. Bosso added that Nigeria is crazy about football and that it would have been a great disappointment for us not to qualify for the semis. In the final group matches on Sunday, Nigeria thrashed Ivory Coast 3-0. Rabiu Ibrahim, Chrisantus Macauley and skipper Haruna Lukman were on target for the Flying Eagles as they brushed aside their West Africa counterparts. Egypt also snatched a 2-1 win over South Africa but the former missed out on a semi-final place on goal difference. On Saturday, Ghana’s Black Satellites had humiliated hosts Rwanda 2-0 at Amahoro Stadium as Cameroon also pulled off a convincing 3-0 win over Mali. Israel-based striker Ransford Osei scored both goals for Ghana in the second half to take his goal tally to three. Osei who plays for Maccabi Haifa broke the deadlock in the 69th minute before doubling his side’s lead 11 minutes later with a well taken header. Ghana’s victory means they finished top of Group A and will now face Group B runners-up South Africa in the first semi-final. Ends
