Rwanda and Korea are set to strengthen their existing collaborative framework to boost the former's housing and infrastructure development sector. The revelation came following a meeting between Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente and Sangwoo Park, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea, and his delegation, on April 12. “With over 40 years of experience in housing development and infrastructure, Rwanda seeks to learn from Korea's successful strategies in coping with high population density and limited land resources,” Jimmy Gasore, the Minister of Infrastructure said. The discussions between the two nations also focused on exploring investment opportunities within Rwanda's housing sector, drawing insights from Korea's remarkable development journey. Gasore also pointed out that to formalize their collaboration, both ministries are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in June. This agreement will outline the scope of cooperation in the infrastructure sector and establish a roadmap for its implementation, indicating a promising step towards mutual growth and progress. On his part, Park who also came with his delegation on behalf of their country’s participation in the 30th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi expressed Korea's commitment to supporting Rwanda's development efforts, citing the importance of infrastructure, particularly in transportation, for the country's rapid development. He emphasized Korea's extensive experience in infrastructure development, spanning over four decades, and reiterated the significance of strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
