In an evening that was meant to set the stage for the La Francophonie summit, Rwandas Minister of Foreign Affairs and candidate for the post of Secretary General Louise Mushikiwabo took to the stage alongside Rwandan musicians and traditional dancers to mesmerise the audience in the Armenian capital Yerevan. An ensemble of mainly Rwandan musicians based in France, including Shanel Nirere and Sammy Kamanzi entertained those who showed up for the evening of music on Tuesday night. Mushikiwabo displayed her traditional Kinyarwanda dance skills. The video of her dancing has since gone viral. The La Francophonie Summit opens today in Yerevan and Mushikiwabo is expected to win the coveted seat with ease to replace Canadian Michaelle Jean.
