Bugesera FC striker Elijah Ani has said that observing the 30th commemoration of the genocide against the Tutsi (Kwibuka 30) for the first time has helped him to reflect soberly on life and humanity. The Nigerian player told Times Sport that he had heard of Rwanda’s tragic past before even coming to play professional football in the country. He noted that experiencing the commemoration first-hand gave him the feeling of what the country went through. This is my first time witnessing the commemoration. It is really a sad moment. You can really feel what the country went through, he said. This is a big lesson for us as individuals. I am using this opportunity to reflect about humanity and life as well as how we can live together peacefully,” he added.
