October 21 Marines Vs Bugesera National topflight football league side Marines FC have signed as many as 12 new players ahead of the forthcoming 2018/2019 season – which begins on October 19. According to the club’s secretary general, Geoffrey Hakizimana, the new signings include; three goalkeepers, one defender, four midfielders and four strikers. Besides the trio of goalkeepers; Protogene Rukundo, from rivals of Etincelles; Hertier Ahishakiye, from Intare; and Serge Ntagisanayo, from Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle, who signed a two-year contract each; another four players also signed two years while the rest penned a one-year renewable deal each. Marines will start their league campaign hosting Bugesera at Umuganda Stadium on October 21. “We have been struggling a lot in the last two seasons, we hope – with the new players – to perform better next season. The target is to finish in top five at least,” Hakizimana told Times Sport yesterday. Among the 12 new arrivals at the Rubavu-based yellow outfit also include; left-back Felix Hakizimana and forwards Isiak Mutima, Protain Sindambiwe as well as Yakuba Byukusenge, all from Intare FC who signed a one year contract each. Former APR forward Saleh Nyirikindi was also loaned to Marines for one year. Others are; midfielder Sadjat Niyonkuru, from Etincelles; forward Ramadhan Dusingizemungu, from Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle; midfielders Cedric Samba, from Mukura, and Alsad Parfait Nsenguyumva, from Etincelles, all on a one-year deal – through end of next season. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
