Kiyovu SC have secured the signature of former AS Kigali stopper Shamiru Bate on a two-year contract. The goalkeeper put pen to paper on Wednesday, ending a four-year stint with the City of Kigali-sponsored side, which he had joined in 2014. “Bate is officially our player now, he has signed a two-year contract with us. He will be a good replacement for veteran Jean Claude (Ndoli) in the next two seasons,” said Omar Munyengabe, Kiyovu SC team Manager. Despite having an impressive start in the Azam Rwanda Premier League campaign last season, which included topping the standings on several occasions, the Nyamirambo-based side finished in fifth behind APR, AS Kigali, Rayon Sports and Etincelles, in that order. It is reported that, at AS Kigali, Shamiru will be replaced by former Rayon Sports skipper Eric Ndayishimiye, who was fired by the club last season. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
